Will technology make us irrelevant?
Isolationism and ignorance with a side of covfefe

Less is more?

Posts here on the blog will be noticably less frequent from now on as other aspects of my life really need to take priority, namely:

  • Family
  • Health
  • Work

Another reason is that I want to take a bit of time to decide what I want to do with this website, and whether I want/need to keep it going. I've been doing this for eleven years, which I'm pretty proud of. At one time, I was getting up to 20,000 readers in a month - something else I was proud of as I did/do absolutely nothing to promote it.

Readership has dwindled - I don't care about admitting that - probably because people can sense, like me, that I'm not exactly passionate about some of the things I'm posting. It's a shame to admit that I've posted things sometimes just to have posts.

That's a bit shit, and nobody wants to read it. If the author isn't that bothered about what he's writing, why the hell should the reader be bothered?

Design has become more peripheral to my life, so I can't call this a 'design' site any longer. In terms of my work, design is still there, but it's mostly focused on educational design and designing the odd thing for myself. Client design work has all but ended.

I still work freelance as an editor and writer, and greatly enjoy both, and the topics I work with vary.

And that, I think, goes to the heart of it. I like loads of things. I always have and I always will, so having to choose one and base my website around it just feels unnatural to me.

So, as posts become less frequent, they should hopefully become more varied and more genuine. We shall see.

Cheers.
