Quentin Tarantino in Softbank Commercial

I might be slow in posting this, but I've literally just seen it on TV. Is Quentin Tarantino (Tara-chan, as he refers to himself in the commercials) now part of the bizarre 'family' Softbank dreamed up for their advertising? Nope, it just seems he made this while in Japan promoting his latest film (he also appeared on SMAPxSMAP with Brad Pitt).
