Vitamin Cafes: Fancy a Drip with your Coffee?
If you think supplements and energy drinks are no longer having an effect on your body, how can you go about relieving the stress and fatigue of everyday life? Perhaps this question has never occurred to you, but it is apparently occurring to a growing number of people who frequent 'vitamin cafes' in Tokyo which offer a quick shot of goodness to pep you up. And a shot is exactly what it is, as these vitamin boosts are available as an injection or on a drip.
One of the cafes offering such a service - and highlighted by CNN in a recent story on the phenomenon - is Tenteki in Ebisu, which offers a whole host of goodies from a basic pick-me-up costing ¥2,000 right up to the special 'Autumn Diet' or 'Business Package', which will lighten your purse by ¥6,500 and ¥5,500 respectively.
Another establishment (although not really a cafe) offering vitamins via IV is Le Coquelicot plastic surgery in Ginza, which has 'three different types of IV treatments based upon patient’s individual needs'; the Vital Energy Drip (¥5,800/session) consisting of branch chain amino acid and various vitamins to help relieve fatigue, improve physical functioning and increase base metabolism; the Anti-Aging Drip (¥4,500/session) containing amino acid and antioxidant vitamins which help maintain healthy and beautiful skin; and our personal favourite, the Hepar-Recovery Drip (¥5,000/session) which helps liver function, replaces vitamins lost through drinking and prevents hangovers.
Go on, treat yourself to a jab in the arm.
Really liked this post. I will have to bookmark this site to tell my friends.
