Julian Opie at SCAI the Bathhouse

One exhibition not to be missed is the currently running Julian Opie event at SCAI the Bathhouse in Tokyo.

This is the second time the artist has held an exhibition at this wonderful gallery, with the current exhibition focusing on new portraits, displaying the works in what Opie calls "a salon-style context that provides an enclosed, classical, private mood, rather than the more open, white cube style of public art museums." For those not familiar with SCAI the Bathhouse, this sums the place up perfectly.

In addition to the portraits, heavily influenced by 17th and 18th century English and Dutch paintings, the exhibition will include new paintings and animations.

The exhibition runs until 14 November 2009.
