Renny Gleeson: Anti-Social Technology

I include this for two reasons:

1) It's funny, poignant and very true;

2) The request made at the end of the talk is along the lines of what I'm trying to do with SFTE Profiles and other work.

Please watch it and think about how you interact with other people in your daily lives. And for all the designers and creators out there, please think about the request and let us know your thoughts.

Renny Gleeson hit it square on the head ... 'texting' is an "Anit-Social Technology." It can't achieve what the art of true conversation communicates. Color, Tone, and timber of voices shared...(taking turns apeaking and listening)...truely still communicate on a real level unless of course you are being false to begin with. It is easier to put a false spin on an impersonal piece of equipment than to lie in person where ones countenance and body language can be 'read.'

I agree with Peggy Jo and I support what SFTE is doing - promoting real communication! I'm sick of being 'poked' or 'tagged'. The Internet is great, but it ain't half making us into a bunch of hermits!

Please, designers, listen and take note!
