Tokyo Designers Week: 83 Design - 「ヒコーキ」x「カタグルマ」

83design
Some design concepts are just so good you can't help but smile, and the two pieces of furniture exhibited by Koji Yano and Yoshiyuki Kashiwagi - 83 Design - certainly fall into that category. The two stools, "ヒコーキ" (hikoki, aeroplane) and "カタグルマ" (kataguruma, piggyback) are based on childhood memories of playing with one's parents and the designers wish to create 'touching' design which is 'not only stimulating, but somewhat nostalgic and heart-warming.' They have certainly achieved their aim so far.

In case you are wondering, the name of the company derives from the year in which both designers were born.
