Review: The A-Z of Modern Architecture
The stunning new 'A-Z of Modern Architecture' from Taschen is a must-have for architecture fans. Developed over seven years and featuring 566 architects from the 18th to the 21st century together with 5,200 illustrations, it might be a bit pricey at ¥30,000 ($250), but it is quite possibly the only architecture encyclopædia you will need.
Rather than simply focusing on floor plans and architect's drawings, the book puts the architects themselves at the forefront, offering a short biography and other notes to put their work into a more personal perspective.
The book also covers groups and movements, rather than just individual architects, many you may well not know.
