Kurokawa for Mayor of Tokyo?

00071_01sArchitect Kisho Kurokawa (left) has indicated that he may run in the upcoming election for mayor of Tokyo.

Kurokawa has stated that he will seek election if the current mayor, Shintaro Ishihara, decides to run for a third term in office, which seems likely to happen. If Kurokawa does decide to run for the post, he will likely do so as an independent candidate.

In announcing his decision, Kurokawa, 72, said that one of the policies he would pursue if elected would be to push for the withdrawal of Tokyo's bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games.
