TDW/100% Design: Pore + Takafumi Nemoto
I was very happy to meet up with Japanese designer Takafumi Nemoto, who is showing some of his Pore designs at 100% Design. Although I wasn't able to take any pictures of the designer himself (see my earlier post for the reason why) he was kind enough to give me a DVD of his work, so I'm fortunately able to bring some images.
The Babel Table, aside from looking great, is also very functional as it contains a number of sockets inside allowing users to recharge such things as mobile phones, music players, etc.
Function and good looks are a strong feature of the designer's work, and Moca is no exception. The centre is solid, but the ends can be bent, allowing it to be used as a tray or stand.
Although TDW/100% Design has many established designers and companies on show, as I previously stated, I prefer to look around for those who are more up-and-coming. I have only included two of the designer's products here, although I will post more at a later date as there is a lot more to see. The designer is totally down to earth and played down his ability by telling me that he's "not famous", but I think he should start adding "yet" to the end of that sentence. It also turns out he doesn't live that far away from me, so hopefully I'll get a chance to speak to him in a more relaxed manner sometime in the future.
